Updates/Fixes

The end of an era

Macintosh Lion Operating System:  We have learned that Apple as of 9/1/2011 no longer supports PowerPC in its new Lion Operating System. The Macintosh version of the program on the CD-ROM we supply will  not work on the LION operating system. The only workaround idea currently is to add a virtual operating system such as Parallels Desktop 7 (http://www.parallels.com/) or VMWare Fusion along with a copy of Windows  to your Macintosh computer. This should allow you to run any Windows software on your Macintosh. For the more adventurous there is a free Open Source virtual operating system called Virtual Box (https://www.virtualbox.org/ ) which along with a copy of Windows will do the same thing. Please leave a comment if you find the virtual operating system approach works on your computer with any of our CD-ROMs.

McAfee Security Bug:  When I exit your CD, my McAfee Security software says that your CD is trying to access the web and when I deny it access, my computer locks up and I have to do a restart after which it works fine again. Other than that, I had no technical difficulties with the CD.    Pete Kopcsak

We are very sorry about this. It seems some code was left in the program that shouldn’t have been left in. Some systems will get a warning from McAfee.  Annoying but not harmful. This has been fixed in version 1.1 now being shipped.

Windows 7:  If your program does not close properly use the Task Manager or use CNTL-Q to close before you click the Close button.

Speeding Up the Search Feature

Windows Users:  You can speed up the search feature if you have enough room on your computer’s hard disk. You’ll need about 570 mb of free space. With the CD inserted, click on My Computer, then right-click on the CD drive. Select Explore and you will now see the contents of the CD-ROM. Copy the entire folder called Program to your hard disk. To run the program open the folder and click GREATLOOP.exe
